This event is organized in the framework of the French Business Angel Week, coordinated by France Angels.
More than 300 participants are expected to attend from the entrepreneurial ecosystem (investors, entrepreneurs…). The programme will include:
The “German Business Angels Day” with more than 500 participants starts on Sunday, 11th of December at 2 pm.
Sunday evening we have the award ceremony “Golden Nose” for the German Business Angel of the Year in the old town hall of Nuremberg – just opposite to world famous “Christkindles-market”.
On Monday, 12th of December, we are planning “Round table sessions” moderated by experts, promoters an innovators”.
One of these tables is entitled: “The European Angels Ecosystems: Guest table hosted by Business Angels Europe BAE and TOP Angels from Europe’s most successful angel markets“.

João Trigo da Roza – President APBA
Partner and founder of Toplever ( business consulting firm ), President of APBA- Portuguese Business Angel Association, Board member of BAE- Business Angels Europe , Board member of TR Predium (family office), professor of Entrepreneurship at Católica Lisbon School B&E , Advisory Board Member of the Social Investment Lab (Gulbenkian Foundation and IES ).
Born in Portugal (1959). MSc in Civil Engineering (IST) , MBA ( UNL) , pos graduation on business ( Stanford) and Private Equity ( Harvard BS). Worked for McKinsey, ATKearney (VP), Portugal Telecom Multimedia.com (CEO), Sapo (Chairman), Telepac ( CEO) , PT Ventures( Board member) , Parque Expo 98 Real Estate Development SA ( Board member) .
João Azevedo Coutinho – Executive Board of José de Mello and member of the Advisory Board of Grow
João Azevedo Coutinho has been Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director of Brisa since 1999 and is also responsible for various areas and subsidiaries within the Brisa Group, namely IT and Via Verde Portugal. He´s also a member of the Executive Board of José de Mello and member of the Advisory Board of Grow.
He started his career at Coopers & Lybrand, in 1982. In 1990, he joined Deutsche Bank, in Portugal, as a director responsible for the Investment Banking Division until 1997. In 1997, he joined Banco Mello de Investimento as member of the Executive Board until 1999.
João Azevedo Coutinho graduated in Business Administration from Universidade Católica Portuguesa in 1982 and completed the management training program “Leadership for Top Managers”, IMD International in 2002 and “AMP Advanced Management Program” in Harvard in 2013.
Jenny Tooth – CEO of the UK Business Angels Association
Chief Executive at UK Business Angels Association Jenny is CEO of the UK Business Angels Association, the trade body for angel and early stage investing, representing over 15,000 investors around the UK.
Jenny has over 20 years’ experience of facilitating SMEs access to investment, both in the UK and internationally. She ran her own consultancy on access to finance for SMEs, including spending nine years based in Brussels, working closely with the EC. In 2009, Jenny co-founded Angel Capital Group which incorporates London Business Angels, one of the most established and active angel networks in the UK.
Philippe Gluntz – President, Business Angels Europe
Philippe Gluntz spent most of his career as C.O.O. then C.E.O. of computer services and telecom companies, singularly of GSI, European leader in IT and payroll outsourcing, that he started up with close friends in the mid-seventies, and eventually sold in 1995 to ADP Employer Services, for which he served as C.E.O. for Europe and Corporate Vice-President until 2002, when he was appointed non-executive Chairman, and started to invest as a Business Angel in several start-ups in the IT and Telecom sectors. He has also been in charge of one the largest mergers of the 80’s, between Alcatel-CIT (France) and I.T.T. Telecom (USA), leading to the creation of the current Alcatel Group (13 Billion USD and 120000 employees at that time), of which he has been the C.O.O. from 1986 to 1991. Philippe Gluntz is now Chairman and Board Member of several NTIC companies, and is heavily involved in the Venture Capital and Angel Investing markets, on top of his academic teaching. He spends most of his time as President of BAE (Confederation of European Business Angels Associations) and with France Angels, the French Federation of Business Angels Networks and early stage Funds, and supporting the 30 start-ups in which he has been investing over the last 12 years.
João Vasconcelos (to confirm) – Secretary of State of Industry
Previously worked as Executive Director at Startup Lisboa, the Association for Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Lisbon, since 2011 until 2015, and headed LIDE Entrepreneurship. Between
2005 until 2011, served as deputy and assistant to the Prime-Minister’s Cabinet, taking charge of matters concerning Regional Affairs and Economy.
Carlos Moedas (video message to the Spring Investment Dinner Portugal) – European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation
Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, detains responsibilities regarding research funding programs, especially Horizon 2020, making sure they contribute to the Commission’s jobs, growth and investment package.
Besides, Carlos Moedas is also responsible for promoting the international excellence of the EU’s research and science and strengthening research capacities and innovation across all Member States. Simultaneously, evaluating how EU funded research can be used more effectively and ensuring that Commission proposals are based on scientific evidence.

Todas estas empresas estão com pilotos (ou em vias de os ter) com a EDP. Todas fazem parte do Programa EDP Starter, e algumas têm capital da EDP Ventures.
As empresas que estarão presentes nesta sessão são:
– Vertequip – equipamentos de elevação vertical para edifícios e torres eólicas;
– Fibersail – sensorização de pás eólicas;
– Glartek – uso de realidade virtual aumentada para processos industriais;
– Nesto – IoT e digitalização do mercado de aquecimento doméstico de águas (para clientes que usam botija de gás).
É sempre uma sessão bastante interessante de presenciar, a inovação dos projectos, a análise dos respectivos BP ao debate dos mesmos.
